Boys Cool Christmas Jumpers

Boys cool Christmas jumper
Boys Cool Christmas Jumper Tesco sale £6.00

As much as I love traditional chuncky knit jumpers it nice to change things up a bit. Tiger spotted this cool boys Christmas jumper in Tesco and chose this as his Christmas jumper this year. I love it and it suits Tiger perfectly! The burgundy is lovely and easier to style as it compliments so many colours. Good find my little likely lad!

Mummy and Tiger Day - Bowling Party

I rarely get the chance to have a day just Tiger and I but I think it's so important to make the effort to have these quality days where he doesn't have to share my attention. Since starting school I've really missed him so when a friend of mine invited us to her sons bowling birthday party I thought it would be nice to go it alone and leave Beaux to have some quality time with daddy.

We've never been to a bowling party in fact we've never actually taken Tiger bowling before! He was excited to be going and I was excited to spend some quality time with my oldest little lad.

Although apprehensive to begin with Tiger took to bowling like a duck to water, scoring spares and even a strike (with the aid of bumpers) He was so excited, giving me cuddles and high fives! I can't believe I've waited so long to take him bowling, it's a perfect wet weather activity and the perfect mummy and son day.

The bowling party itself was lovely, enough going on to keep both the kiddies and parents entertained, such a relaxed and fun atmosphere. Tiger loved it so much that he has asked to have a bowling party on his next birthday.

Thank You For Being My Friend - Book Review

Beaux is a right little book worm, it really is his favorite pass time, that and dancing! The minute we have a quiet moment at home he will waddle up to me book in hand and plonk himself down on my lap and start flicking through the pages. He points and attempts words and sound he knows and looks at me for reassurance on the ones he doesn't know. I am so glad that he is so fond of books and I love our reading time together but I do admit that once I've read the same book for the 10th time that day I do get a bit bored of it so I'm always on the hunt for new books, therefore I was really excited when Parragon offered to send me Thank You For Being My Friend to review.

I was really pleased when it arrived as the book came with a little giraffe soft toy, Beaux's favorite books are the ones he can easily interact with so having the giraffe play along side while reading the book was lovely. It came in a cute little box which made me think it would have been a great little Christmas present.

The illustrations are really cute with lots to look at on the page, the story was quite long with quite a lot of words per page. Beaux at the 14 months is a bit too young to follow such a story so we just enjoyed pointing out things on the page with Cleo (the giraffe) acting out along the way.

Although Beaux is very gentle with books I think this book is more suited to a toddler 2+  we did still love reading this book and as the book came to the end Beaux immediately turned it over for us to read again!

The story itself is lovely, well written and flows nicely. I think we will get more reads out of this book when Beaux is a little older, Cleo and the book is small enough to pop in his little rucksack so great when we are out and about.

Mix n Match your glad rags - vintage sequin tops

With all the Christmas parties the shops are full of glittery, beaded and sparkly clothes and I love it! I'm an absolute sucker for a vintage sequin top but they never get enough wear! So I have started wearing them dressed down with skinny jeans and my newest favorite maroon converse, it makes a great change from a chunky knit! It's funny I never feel over dressed and can happily have a typical day out with the little lads in it.

My only tip if you do decide to wear your vintage sequin top as day wear then try not to wear many other accessories, this statement top will be more than enough.

Christmas Eve Box

Christmas Eve Present

I love Christmas traditions and the Christmas Eve Box is another one of my favorites, I've been doing it ever since Tiger was born and although the content has changed a bit as he's gotten older I will always do one. The idea of the Christmas Eve Box for me is to give the children an extra treat before the big day. Something that will get them excited but also something cosy and relaxing after a busy day of Nativity plays and last minute shopping.

Christmas Keep Sake Box
Paperchase Christmas Keep Sake Box £7.50
Christmas Eve Present Box
What to put in the Christmas Eve Present Box...
1. PJs - New Christmas PJs are a must each year, I love the thought of them going to bed all fresh and snugly.

2. Christmas DVD - This year it's Arthur Christmas, we all went to watch it at the cinema last year and loved it.

3. New Mugs - For those hot chocolates when we are all snuggled up under the big faux fur throw and watching the Christmas film.

4. Father Christmas Survival Kit - Everything you need for the big visit of Father Christmas and the reindeer!!

Father Christmas Survival Kit
What's inside the Father Christmas Survival Kit...
Reindeer Lights - Sparkly dust so the reindeer can easily spot your house from up in the sky (the kids love sprinkling this on the grass before bed)

Cookies - for Father Christmas

A Carrot and Apple - for the Reindeer

Handmade Thank You notes

Father Christmas 'Stop Here' Sign - The kiddies like putting this up in the front garden on Christmas Eve

Personally this is the perfect evening for us to spend with the kiddies before they hang their stockings and go to bed.

Weekend away in Brighton

Myself and The Mister love Brighton! We love the coast, we love the bustle of The Lanes and all the cute little restaurants and pubs. And I can get a massive vintage fix!

On our way to our hotel I spotted a vintage fair and pleaded with The Mister to have a little wander, it was £2 each entry and was huge!!! I was in vintage faux fur, trinket boxes and broach heaven! Even with The Mister shooing me down the aisles as quickly as possible I managed to bag myself a beautiful little vintage tin, a pair of brown leather cut out gloves and a gold and pearl statement necklace (the gloves and necklace are Christmas presents from The Mister and he has actually 'put his foot down' and will not let me have them until Christmas)

Once we dropped our bags at our Hotel we took a stroll along the sea front, it was a cold (saying that I wasn't really cold with my really long big pimping vintage faux fur coat and two meter long scarf!) but it was a stunning day with the sun beaming passed the clouds. We came across a tepee with an amazing band playing inside and very cool van selling our new favorite festive drink 'move over mulled wine we have a new kid in town and his name is Mulled Cider!'

After begrudgingly pulling ourselves away from our precious mulled cider van and the band we thought we should actually do a bit of Christmas shopping, we headed straight to The Lanes and grabbed some great unique Christmas presents. We rewarded ourselves for such great present finding with MORE mulled cider and went out for dinner at Pho a lovely Vietnamese restaurant.

The following day was more Christmas shopping and back home to our little lads. We love Brighton and would seriously consider moving our family here.

Onesie Love

Camouflage Onesie
Camouflage Onesie Tesco sale £6 Hat Primark £3
Boys Camouflage Onesie

Childrens camouflage onesie

Tesco camouflage onesie

I think onesie's get a bad press, I think they are so much more than fluffy fleecy animal suits only suitable for lounging around the house with loved ones. They can be so adorable on children (I do however still reserve judgement on adults) they are just so comfortable and styled right look super cool,Tiger loves his!

When choosing a onesie for Tiger I would stay away from patterns that I would expect to see on PJ's or are too seasonal. I love this camouflage print onesie as its quite subtle and not over the top, teamed with this clashing wool patterned woolly hat makes me want to go 'awww lets go out to play' not time for bed!

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain - 'The' Mummy Lipstick!

I don't normally post about beauty products but when I fall in love I fall hard and I have to share the gorgeous Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain (bit of a mouth full!) My sister originally introduced me to the Just Bitten Balm Stain and I've been hooked ever since! I don't always wear lipsticks, I don't like the fuss of making sure its still on, hasn't smudged and hate not been able to kiss my little lads without leaving lipstick kisses on them. Other than the fantastic range of colours from trendy wendy hot pinks to more natural tones, I love that Just Bitten Balm Stain is simple and quick to apply, leaves your lips feeling soft and lasts ages. They are such a great pick me up without the fuss, I treated myself to this hot pink as I've been ill with a cold, plus I am going through a 'horrible hair stage' so I just needed something to stop me feeling bluh! Okay it hasn't miraculously made my cold disappear but its stopped me looking so washed out.

How to take photos of children

how to take photos of children
After our personalised Christmas card post I've had a few people ask how I managed to get a nice photo of all the children together or how I even take photo of the lads especially when they are running off and refusing to smile or pose. I'm no photographer although I love taking photos so have had lots of practice but here's a few basic tips I use.

How to take photos of Children...

Don't Force it - if the kiddies are in a bad mood, sleepy or hungry do it on a different day/time you want to look back on the photo fondly, I like to think of photo as a captured memory so make it a positive one.

Good lighting - if you can take the photo outside on a bright day then do! If not find a bright clear corner of your house (natural light works best)

Background - think about your background, do you really want that pair of knickers drying on the radiator behind you? Do you really want the radiator in it at all? Some backgrounds can be lovely, the kids out playing with the fallen leaves or just cuddled up on your sofa surrounded by cosy cushions. Just be aware of whats showing in the frame.

Props - using props are a great way to create atmosphere in a photo, it's also a fun way to keep the kiddies entertained during your mini photo shoot. For our Halloween photo shoot, Beaux just enjoyed playing with the pumpkins, he was smiling and happy, making it easier for me to get a natural shot.

Hold that pose - Yeah right!! My little lads don't stay still for a second so I find I'm just chasing them around, children are so carefree that their movement are fluid, they make great shapes and poses just being children. My favorite photos are the ones when a moment is captured and you can see their personality or how they are feeling through it.

Move - Take photos from different angles, just one step to the side from you can drastically change the appearance of your photo. Don't forget get up high or at eye level with your child.

Edit - There are so many free, user friendly editing tools . You can use filters to get an entirely different look and feel for your photo. Create a focal point or just crop away that sock you didn't notice before. I rarely post a photo I haven't edited first.

And if all else fails and the kiddies still wont co-operate then take photos of them when they are sleeping!! I think we've all spent hours just watching our babies sleep, so relaxed and carefree. I want to remember that forever! And you can still dress them up and they won't yank their cute hats off!! bonus!!

I hope you find my little tips on how to take photos of children useful. If you do try some out then please let me know how you get on.

Primark Chunky Knit Jumpers

Primark Chunky Knit Jumper

Primark Chunky Knit Jumper

Primark Chunky Knit Jumper

Primark Chunky Knit Jumper

I'm no stranger to Primark but usually I tend to buy the basics from there however I have been really impressed with their knitted range this year! Yes the prices are slowly but surely creeping up but I would say so is the quality, well of their knitted range in particular which is great especially as its freezing now and with Christmas coming up.

I went Christmas shopping the other day and bought Beaux a pair of crocodile knitted mittens, he will love them! The detail is great and so is the quality, they have a hand knitted feel to them, something your Granny would have knitted for you for Christmas so a great little stocking filler.

I love this Primark Chunky knit jumper on Tiger, it's so snugly! I love the fit and the block colors are a great twist on a classic, I really think its a lovely winter/Christmas piece to have. I haven't bought our Christmas jumpers yet but they also have some cute designs, again they look really well made.

So Primark I salute you and your knitted/Christmas range!!

A chip off the old block - Vtech Kiddi Zoom Twist Plus Review

Imagine my absolute delight when Tiger requested a camera of this own, I guess he wanted to see what mummy gets all excited about.

I did a little bit of research and thought the Vtech Kiddi Zoom Twist Plus would be appropriate for his age and found it at Argos on sale for only £39.99. He's already quite technology savvy knowing how to use an Ipad and Laptop and has seen me taking photos so often enough that he couldn't wait to start taking photos of his own.

The Vtech Kiddi Zoom Twist Plus was easy to get started with and I only needed to show Tiger once how to use the basic camera features, he was then easily taking photos, zooming in and out, reviewing, deleting any photos he wasn't happy with! *proud mummy moment!* I was really impressed with the twisting view finder to enable him to take his own 'selfies' by simply pulling it towards himself. We didn't actually get the instructions out before using it, which I think is a good indication of how user friendly the Vtech Kiddi Zoom Twist Plus camera is. Tiger discovered the effects filter which can easily be chosen by twisting a ring around the lens and he thought it was hilarious when giving me a bizarre looking chin from the on camera editing section, all of which he discovered himself without being shown.

Other than the ability to take photos and videos, there are games on the Vtech Kiddi Zoom Twist Plus, to be honest I didn't think Tiger would be interested in them as they are very basic and he is use to playing games on the iPad but actually he's been playing with them, especially on car journeys, he likes that he can take a photo of himself and use it as the character in the game.

Vtech Kiddi Zoom Twist Plus

Vtech Kiddi Zoom Twist Plus

Tiger has really enjoyed the Vtech Kiddi Zoom Twist Plus camera and I have loved uploading and looking through his photos, it's a lovely insight to how he sees the world. I also love how it makes him look just that bit closer and take notice of the smaller and less obvious things around him.

The Vtech Kiddi Zoom Twist Plus camera ticks all of the boxes for me, it looks great, is really sturdy, easy to use and hold, takes nice quality photos and has cute features. It's perfect for Tiger at this age. The only down side for me is I would prefer if it had a mains charger rather than batteries (takes x4 AA which are included) but saying that we haven't had to change them yet.

So here is Tiger's debut, all photos have been taken by him and haven't been edited (unless he edited or used filters on the Vtech Kiddi Zoom Twist Plus himself)

I asked Tiger what he thought of the Vtech Kiddi Zoom Twist plus and what he would change, this is his reply.

"I really like my new camera, its fun taking photos and making you look funny mummy! The games are really good and I liked making spooky movies with Violet. To make it better I would want to be able to watch DVDs on it too and want it in Green because that's my favorite colour or black so it looks just like yours"

If you are still undecided about what to buy your little ones this Christmas or would like further product information on the Vtech Kiddi Zoom Twist Plus the Dream Toys List is now published on the Argos Website
