A Fantastic Rainy Day Out - Milestone Museum

I can't believe I didn't know about Milestone Museum before! I stumbled across a Groupon deal £12.00 for a family of 4 (under 5's are free) a few days ago and booked it not knowing much about it. I once went to the Ironbridge Museum on a school trip many MANY years ago and loved the little Victorian village museum it really made you feel like you were stepping back in time and Milestone Museum looked like a mini version of that.

It was a rainy wet and cold day, we usually struggle with unique things to do with the kiddies when we can't be outside. Milestone Museum is a perfect rainy day out as it is all under shelter. The Museum is fully interactive and great for both the children and adults alike, I was surprised that even on a rainy Saturday that it wasn't busy at all. Beaux could happily run about without the risk of being trampled on. We were given hand held audio guides which were brilliant and simple to use but there was so much to see and do that we forgot to use them after a short while, however if you were thinking of a more educational day out for older children or yourself then they would be perfect.

The Milestone Museum is set up like a small Victorian village and has everything you would expect to see to in a village, the attention to detail is amazing and the model villagers were brilliant if not a little too life like! One was placed in a court yard toilet and scared me half to death!! My favorite part was the costume tent, any excuse to play with clothes!

The kids favorite part was the school and having a lesson by a very strict teacher! and of course the sweet shop! At the entrance you could exchange 70p for a ration token and coin, you could then exchange the coin for a small bag of sweets at the sweet shop which was another nice little touch.

We all enjoyed the fair games, again you can exchange your money for large 1p coins, each game worked out to be about 10p.

We arrived at Milestone Museum just after lunch and stayed for the rest of the day. It was so child friendly and it was great seeing the kids play, interact and unknowingly learn. The Mister and Violet are keen to return for their Mystery at Milestone event 27th Dec - 12th Jan unfortunately its only suitable for children 7+ so the lads won't be going but I'm sure Milestone Museum will definitely be seeing us again one rainy afternoon.
