Downton Abbey Exhibition at Basildon Park

We often visit Basildon park during the weekend on our family walk as it has something to offer our whole family (see here for my previous review) but this weekend Basildon park had a mini Downton Abbey exhibition. Admittedly I haven't been watching Downton Abbey which is a bit out of character as I love period dramas but  having not seen it doesn't mean that I can't appreciate the beautiful costumes, grand interior and stunning views, as this is what you get on the Basildon Manor House tour.

The little lads weren't interested at all about the exhibition,  so they had a stroll around the beautiful grounds while myself and Violet filled our boots! Trying on costumes and sitting on the very chair from the set of Downton Abbey!

Basildon Manor house is a really popular house for filming and has been the set for other films/programs such as The Duchess and Parades End. I totally understand why, it's stunning with so much to look at. My favorite is the little cobbled courtyard where in the summer you can sit and have your cream tea, ummm cream tea.

As I mentioned before we often visit Basildon Park but the Downton Abbey exhibition makes it all the more special. If you are a fan of period dramas it's definitely worth a visit.

  2. Ooh I joined the National Trust earlier on in the month so now I'm totting up a list of places to visit. Basildon Park is now on the list! I'm a big Downton Abbey fan, though admit to having missed the entire last season!
