Easy Gingerbread Prosecco Recipe and a Mocktail Version Too!

Gingerbread Processo

Gingerbread Prosecco is definitely my tipple this year for Christmas, last year it was my Hot Chocolate Cocktail and the year before mulled cider, but at the moment my drink of choice this festive season is the Gingerbread Prosecco.

Personally, I would just like to buy it in a bottle, open it and pour myself a nice fizzy flute but I've yet to see it in my super markets, so I've made my own Easy Gingerbread Prosecco Recipe. I did plan to make my own gingerbread syrup but ginger is impossible to peel and with all the other prep around Christmas I took a sneaky short cut and bought a bottle of Bobby's Coffee Gingerbread syrup and it's delicious and could be used in coffee, hot chocolate or even drizzled over ice cream.

A Poundland Christmas

Poundland Christmas

I'm no stranger to Poundland, I'm a bargain hunter and I see absolutely no point in paying more than I have to. I usually pop into Poundland for essentials like batteries, branded cleaning products and the occasional craft bits. So when I was asked to shop at Poundland for Christmas gifts and gift wrap I was totally up for the challenge!

Christmas Traditions Check List

Christmas Traditions - C H E C K  L I S T

I did warn you that the prep for Christmas in my house has already begun! As the little lads get older and more engulfed in the spirit of Christmas the more Christmas traditions I've added. I didn't realise that they had even become traditions at all until I asked Tiger and Beaux if they would prefer not to have the DIY Advent Calendar I make each year and have a Lego Advent instead, they looked at me as if I had told them that I had put out a hit on Father Christmas!!!

Tiger said it was one of his favourite things about Christmas, that and the Christmas Eve Box. So I guess these traditions will be here to stay and actually I love the thought that when they are grown and look back at their Christmas they will have lots of fond memories and may even continue some of the traditions with their own families.

Cool Kids Christmas Jumpers

Apologies in advance for all of you who are not quite ready for the Christmas chat but I am so excited about Christmas this year and absolutely love all the build up!

The Christmas jumper is one of our many traditions and i've been on the look out for the coolest christmas jumpers for the kids. Tiger in particular will moan quite a lot about the itchiness of a Christmas jumper so I have been keeping a beady eye out for sweater, cotton jumper and long sleeved t-shirt types! Who said Christmas jumper should itch, be handed knitted by your Granny and must be at least two sizes too big! Not us, this year we will be keeping it cool . Here are some of my favourite Cool Kids Christmas Jumpers, all available now on the high street.
1.  George at ASDA Sweater from £8 (it lights up too!)
2. H&M Slogan Cotton Jumper £6.99
3. Zara Jacquard Cardigan £23.99
4. H&M 'Santa I can explain' Jumper £6.99
5. Riverisland Ski Slopes Jumper £14.99
6. H&M Star Wars Long Sleeved T-Shirt £6.99

How to choose the Perfect Red Lipstick in 3 Easy Steps

I've said it once I will say it again, red lips rocks and I believe there's a red shade lipstick for everyone! Red lips can brighten your face and give the illusion that you have made an effort to get ready in the mornings. It's my go to if I have a tired face or a plain boring outfit, it really gives me a little pick me up and only takes a couple minutes to apply.

I love bright and bold and I just choose whatever red shades I like the look of but if you are new to the world of red lipstick and are unsure of what shade red would suit you, then here are my 3 Steps to help find the perfect shade for you.

Muddy Puddles Urban Woodland Event

This week we were invited to Muddy Puddles Urban Woodland Event at the amazing Kings Cross Skip Garden, what a great use of space! Skip Garden is a sustainable urban garden, absolutely everything is made with recycled materials. Skips made into mini gardens and vegetables patches, beehives and chicken coops! This little patch of green in the middle of a Kings Cross Development really is awesome and the little lads couldn't wait to explore. They loved climbing up and down into the skips and discovering what was growing there.

How to Create a Family Photo Wall

I'm a little bit in love with our polaroid style family photo wall. I was inspired by the lovely Kerri-Ann from Life as Our Little Family and Morgana from Coffee Work Sleep Repeat  photo walls so I was keen to create one of my own.

This year I've been much better at printing off the images I've taken but mostly in photo book form which is lovely to look back on but I wanted to show off some of my favourite prints from this summer.

Pyjamas Tradition

It's becoming a bit of a tradition to buy new snuggly pyjamas as soon as there is a little nip in the air. One of my favourite things about autumn and winter is getting all cosy! Hot chocolates, faux fur throws, cosy nights in and of course soft new pyjamas are a must. M&S isn't my usual 'go to' to buy pyjamas for the little lads but I had some vouchers so I went for a little browse and was pleasantly surprise.

FIVE Reasons to Holiday in Marseille with Children

It feels crazy to still be talking about our summer holiday we had in Marseille, especially as autumn loveliness is all around us. But I thought  I should write a little post about our family holiday in Marseille as everyone keeps asking me why we chose to go to Marseille and if it was any good for children.

Our Living Room - A Sneak Peak

Since I started taking part in My Story over on Instagram some of you have asked me to do a little tour of our home. I did a tour of the little lads room as it was the first room to be finished when we moved in two years ago and I meant to do the rest of the rooms as and when they were finished but never got round to it (sorry!) but better late than never!

Honeymoon in Cuba

It's not that our wedding wasn't amazing (it really was) but if I'm honest from the moment we booked our honeymoon in Cuba I was counting down the days. Not only were we heading off to paradise but heading to paradise alone with no children. The last holiday abroad we had alone was back in 2010!! I do absolutely love travelling with The Littles, their enthusiasm and excitement for EVERYTHING but let's face it, it's hardly relaxing, you can't take your eyes off them for a second and then the constant demands! So yes, we were all freshly loved up and looking forward to our honeymoon in Cuba.

The Likely Wedding

Well what an awesome August we have just had!!! We got hitched, been on our honeymoon to Cuba and then on our family holiday to Marseille. No wonder I have 'end of summer' blues. That was until Kristine at Laine Apine our amazing wedding photographer sent us our wedding photos and cheered me right up! She really captured the day and I sobbed my way through them (happy tears, of course!)

I don't want to forget a minute of the wedding day so I wanted to share it here.

Top Tips for Swimming Safely with Young Children this Summer

Hooray! Hoorah! The summer holidays are upon us and we can't wait! As a family we love nothing more than swimming, it could be swimming in a pool on holiday, or paddling in the sea or just splashing around at our local lido but one things is for sure we want everyone to be safe.

I've been working with ABTA looking at Top Tips for Swimming Safely this summer.

Mess Free Rainy Days Activity

Typical, our first official day of the summer holidays when both little lads have finished nursery and school and it rains! We've had such glorious weather recently and we've made the most of the sun shine so actually we don't mind a duvet day. Staying in our pants and PJs until lunch time, cuddling up on the sofa watching films and getting out those rainy days activities.

Unusual Wedding Rings - Frilly By Lily

If you follow me on Instagram and Twitter you will know that I was really unsure of whether to have an unusual wedding band or something more classic. I felt an unusual wedding band would be 'more me' and something I would love to look at, but for how long?

Family Boat Hire - Summer Experience

This weekend felt a bit special, with all the hustle and bustle of the wedding prep we decided to dedicate this weekend to just family time. We were sent on a summer experience of our choosing by those lovely people at Boots Soltan, we chose to hire a boat for the day and have been looking forward to it for weeks! Living close to the river we often see families sailing up and down the Thames, it always looks like so much fun and we swore we would do the same 'some day' and this weekend we felt so grateful to be able to tick it off our summer bucket list.

Odds Farm - Marmalade's Tea Room & Restaurant

Recently I was invited to sample some food from Odds Farm new Marmalade's Tea Room and Restaurant, I know, tough gig but someone has to do it!

We've never been to Odds Farm before but from the minute we walked in I couldn't help but notice how new everything looked. From the soft play area to the adventure playground and especially the Marmalade's Tea Room. The Marmalade's Tea Room has a contemporary design for the adults, while still being colourful and playful for the kids.

I have been to Britmums Live a couple of times before and know that it's a great time to catch up with friends, meet new blogger, learn tricks of trade from some of the best and connect with fantastic brands, so I was super excited to be going!

The Littles Wedding Outfits

Eek I can't believe it's only 7 weeks until The Mister and I get hitched, I still haven't turned into Brideszillar (yet) but there's always time. So far, touch wood, things are coming together nicely and I'm managing to cross off some of my 'To Do' List. The Littles outfits being one of them.

The Mister and I had very different ideas about what we wanted The Little Lads to dress in, I wanted very relaxed and informal. As the wedding is in August we are hoping for sunny weather, so I pictured smart shorts, short sleeves linen shirts, braces and bow ties but The Mister wanted full on suited and booted, mini versions of his suit.

Pre Hen Do Holiday in Albufeira

I've just returned from my pre-hen holiday in the Algarve in Portugal with my mum and sister and had the most amazing long weekend.

We booked our holiday in Portugal back in February on a bit of a budget. Our only requirements was there was plenty of sunshine, good food and was close to a sandy beach.

We came across an Easy Jet Holiday to Albufeira well within our budget, in fact the whole package (flights and accommodation was cheaper than most flights to Faro!!) I didn't have high hopes for the apartment, but went with the theory that it's only a long weekend and we wouldn't be spending that much time actually there anyway.

Life Lately - Kid Free Weekend

Last weekend The Mister and I had a kiddie free weekend. We needed to go to  London to check out our new wedding rings and see if we could cross a few others wedding related 'to dos' off.

I've decided on a non traditional wedding ring so we set off to a studio in Hackney Wick to see it. I don't think I've actually ever been to that part of Hackney before and I was in street art heaven! I couldn't wait to get my camera out like a true tourist and get snapping away.

Playtex Ideal Beauty Wireless Bra

My bras have always felt pretty comfortable and always looked like a good fit so I've put off getting my boobs professionally measured. However the other day I had a moment to myself without the Little Lads and as I've recently lost a little weight I thought I should get them measured. Well, it turns out I've actually been wearing bras two (yes TWO!) sizes too small! my poor poor boobs!

I have been treating myself to some new correct sized bras and really felt especially with my new size that I struggled to find a good supportive wireless everyday bra which would give me good support.

The Frome Independent Market

This weekend we visited family in Bath, we really needed a a change of scenery and Bath is just so stunning!

I headed to the local farmer shop to buy cake as someone does when they are trying to lose weight! There I spotted a sweet little vintage shop with the cutest bits and bobs. I got talking to the shop owner who told me all about The Independent Frome Market, a huge market supporting independent producers and makers, the market is held in the historic town of Frome. Its only there the first Sunday of every month so as far as I was concerned it was fate and we had to go!

Kids Wedding Favours

As our wedding is going to be small and intimate we had to make the decision not to invite children other than our own. I thought it wasn't going to go down too well with family and friends but actually the majority seemed a bit relieved to have a day off from parent duties, we all need them every now and then!

I've been quite enjoying putting together the kids wedding favours and I've been collecting special little gifts throughout the months.

Introducing Five Boys Clothing - Cool Boy Clothes

I'm really excited to introduce you to Five Boys Clothing, an online shop selling a great range of quality, cool boys clothes.

I initially contacted Five Boys Clothing as I really loved the concept of a boys only online shop, heavens knows there are plenty of girl only shops out there!

Five Boys Clothing was created by two lovely mamas and long time friends. They have five boys between them and wanted to create an online shop of boys clothes. They were keen to make sure they sold good quality, long lasting clothes that look great growing into as well as growing out of and they've done exactly that.

What to do with the family on the Isle of Wight - Part 2

Recently we visited the Isle of Wight and stayed in Yamouth at the stunning The West Bay County Club & Spa Club (read more about that HERE

The West Bay Clubs closest beach is Colwell Bay and only a short 5 minutes drive away, actually it seemed most beaches were only a short drive away. The Isle of Wight is only about 30 miles across which means no long car journeys trying to keep the kids entertained no matter where you decide to visit.

Ideal Home Show 2016 - A Day Out with My Sister

On Sunday I was invited to the Ideal Home Show by the lovely Sponsors Plumbs. Plumbs do just that, specialist in re-upholstery. They can make that old arm chair that I just can't bear to part with fresh, up to date and new again.

Introducing Belle Amelie - Colourful Kids Clothes

Belle Amelie Rainbow t-shirt

I am so excited to introduce you to Belle Amelie, colourful Retro/Scandinavian inspired handmade baby and kids clothes boutique.

Belle Amelie was created by the lovely Caroline who started designing and making her own clothes for her three kiddies. She was feeling frustrated with having to shop in the 'girls' or 'boys' departments, most of the clothes and prints at Belle Amelie are gender neutral, who says a little boy can't rock a rainbow or a little girl a space t-shirt! And I really love this about Belle Amelie.

I first saw Belle Amelie over on Instagram and was drawn to their super colourful and quirky t-shirt designs. This rainbow t-shirt is my absolute favourite, not only because I think Beaux looks super cute in it but because it reminds me of something I might have worn as a kid too.

Fleet Air Arm Museum - 5 Reasons to go with the Kids

We were invited to go to Fleet Air Arm Museum during the half term. We've never been before and as a family we try to go to at least one educational day out during school holidays. Although none of us are exactly Aircraft enthusiasts we were looking forward to going. Beaux especially but I think he thought we would be flying the planes!

I was a little apprehensive that there would be enough there to keep The Littles entertained, but I didn't need to worry, here are 5 reasons Why you should take the kids to Fleet Air Arm Museum.

Beaux was SO excited he told everyone he came into contact with that he was going and couldn't sleep the night before with excitement! We hadn't been before but I had shown him the website and explained to him what to expect.

He was so excited to be going to the zoo as he absolutely adores animal and couldn't wait to see the Tiger and 'Cheeky Gibbons'. He's also partial to a bit of Thomas the Tank Engine so couldn't wait to test out the rides too!

Supermarket Gremlins - Funniest Childrens Book of 2016 + GIVE AWAY!!

Supermarket Gremlins

"Supermarket Gremlins is the FUNNIEST book of 2016!" I'm quoting Tiger here.

Recently we were sent Supermarket Gremlins to enjoy with the Little Lads and since it was delivered we have read it every single day! It's been a huge hit in our family so I just had to share it with you all here. As I've mentioned before Tiger loves monsters/ creepy creatures, so the minute he saw the large eared Gremlin poking it's head out on the front cover of Supermaket Gremlins he was hooked and couldn't wait to get reading it.

8 Problems with the Ripped Jeans Trend

8 Problems with the Ripped Jeans Trend

Last weekend I bought my third pair of ripped jeans (the above high waisted jeans, £15 from Primark if you are interested) As I tried them on for the first time I caught my toe, you know the sensitive bit between the big toe and the toe next to that (which I like to call my mummy toe) in the rips, which actually really hurts and I do it every single time I put them on, no matter how careful I am. Like I said I do have a few pairs of ripped jeans but really are they for me? As I think more about it there are a few more problems with the ripped jeans trend, eight to be exact!

The Style Project - February Edition

Well January was a long old poor month and I'm glad it's over! And we have fresh new February #TheStyleProject prompts. I was pretty impressed that I almost managed everyday of January's prompts and I really felt like I made the most of my wardrobe, well except for those few days when it was ridiculously cold and I'm sorry all fashion sense went out of the window! It was full on layers and my thickest comfiest sweaters! No body really needs to see that!

As always I've been really enjoying looking through The Style Project and seeing your gorgeous styles and beautiful selfies. I'm inspired every single month by those of you taking part in The Style Project. Here are a few of my absolute faves.

Finding BIG Family Holiday DISCOUNTS #ABTAEarlyBird

Just like most families we struggle with the costs of family holidays abroad especially since Tiger started school and can only holiday during half terms/summer holidays. The prices really shoot up during this time and in fact since Beaux turned 2yrs old and needed his own seat on the plane we haven't been able to afford to go abroad. Last year we chose to holiday in the UK instead, it has been lovely and I now see holidaying in the UK in a whole new bright light. But truth be told i'm a sun worshiper and quite frankly I do not like to put all of my trust in the British summer, I want to sit by a pool or on a beach being roasted! I am desperate to go abroad on holiday as a family and have made it my mission to make it happen this year! I think getting organised and booking early is key.

ABTA (UK Travel trade association for Tour Operators and Travel Agents) recently got in touch to let me know about their #ABTAEarlyBird campaign. ABTA Members (Tour Operators and Travel Agents to you and I) are currently offering rewards for booking your holidays early, such as big discounts, free child places and low deposits, so of course I had to check it out.

The Ordinary Moments #2 Chalk and Cheese

Now this is exactly why I don't make New Years resolutions, I break them immediately then I am left feeling crappy about myself.

Okay so I've kept up with the looking after myself thing, eating healthier and making plans I love but I'm already lagging behind on The Ordinary Moments. But I suppose, better late than never.

The past week has really been all about settling back into routine, which I secretly hate! although I do think its necessary for happy and content little lads. Tiger really thrives on knowing where he's going and what he's doing, he always has. When he was a newborn baby I always thought I would be a happy go lucky mama, let my newborn lead the way, take things easy but Tiger had none of it! He cried loudly and constantly for the first three months.  I really struggled and went from wanting to be a hippy mama to ending up following the strict routines of Gina Ford

I always prefer to spend a little more and buy good quality shoes when it comes to the Little Lads footwear, especially during the winter months and find the best deals in the January sales. I tend to wait until towards the middle of January OR if I can hold my nerve late January, this is when all the final reductions are made for the real bargains!

The Ordinary Moments #1 'New Beginnings'

Let me start with saying Happy New Year you lovely lot! I hope you've all had an amazing Christmas break, ours has been wonderful, we crammed in a lot and I've truly loved spending time with my family and friends. I've started 2016 feeling extremely grateful for the people I have in my life.

I haven't really made New Year Resolutions for 2016 as I can't think of a single year where I have actually stuck to them so instead I've made a promise to myself that this year I will make sure I really look after myself as well as my family, healthy eating, exercise and do things which make me happy, for me! It's quite simple stuff but in the past I've struggled with the balance of being a mama and being me, so brand spanking new year- lets really give this a go!

For this little blog of mine, I'm finally happy with the direction it's going in, a good mix of the little lads, lass and my style. Sharing our family days out and fab brand collaborations, there will be more of that this year. I also want a stronger focus on family travel, in keeping with the promise I've made to myself 'doing what I love' and I love to travel and explore the new.

The year for us it will be extra special, after being engaged for like forever (6 years to be exact!) 2016 will see myself and The Mister finally getting hitched!! I wont go on about it too much now but expect to see plenty of our plans leading up to the big day.

At the end of last year I kept meaning to and really wanted to document and write about those precious Ordinary Moments which make up our little family. So I will be joining in with the lovely Katie from Mummy Daddy and Me each week with 'The Ordinary Moment' just a weekly update on what we've been up to.

Here's a 'Mini Moment' to get me started...

After all the excitement of Christmas, on the last day before Tiger returned to school I asked both Tiger and Beaux what they would like to do, walk to the river? visit friends? spend some of their Christmas money at the toy shop? (I thought the last suggestion would have them shoving me out of the way, grabbing their coats and shoes and heading for the front door) But much to my amazement they said they wanted to snuggle up on sofa and watch a film with their mama. So that's exactly what we did, they were so loving to one another which is such a rare occurrence, usually they can be found farting on each other and fighting over the same toy neither one of them has picked up in years! So this moment right here is a precious one that I want to remember forever.
