Red On Red Style And How To Wear It

red maxi dress

First pink this summer and now red this autumn, these are colours which do not usually grace my wardrobe, but this year I can't get enough of them! I am loving the all red trend at the moment, I am not one to worry about colour coordination but there is something really satisfying about wearing red lipstick, a red dress and classy red nails.

I think the trick to this red on red trend is to wear the same tone of red throughout your outfit. Just like finding the perfect red lipstick I believe there's a red tone to suit everyone, I wrote a little post here but for ease I say if you prefer to wear gold jewellery then orange reds would suit you and it silvers float your boat then bluey-red tones will look lovely on you.

I definitely got my money's worth from this maxi dress, I wore it all summer long and now while it is still mild I have layered with a black t-shirt and ankle boots or sometimes I will wear it with trainers for a more casual look.

I am not sure if there is any logic to it but when wearing this much red I prefer to keep my makeup (besides the red lips of course!) nude, light and glowy. I will even hold back on the top eye liner which is like a security blanket to me.

Although it's still bright and sunny, I can feel those shorter darker colder days creeping in so I usually make a conscious effort to make my winter coat a statement coat. It will be my most worn piece over the winter and a bright colourful coat is a really easy and simple way to add interest without any planning at all.

My winter uniform will be this red coat and these red sock boots from Next (not in the photo as they have not arrived yet, long story!) black high waisted jeans or black culottes and a fine knit jumper.

I'm loving all this red especially as it's quite new to me and I don't own a lot of it, therefore it's a perfect excuse for me to do some more shopping!! I need an excuse.
